Product Description

These small Japanese bowls are individually crafted with open fluid forms and a white kohiki glaze. A perfect size for serving side dishes, or holding garlic and ginger on your kitchen bench top. As every bowl is handcrafted, each is unique and will differ slightly from piece to piece.

Shigaraki is located in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, and is recognised as playing a significant part in the long history of Japanese ceramics. It is included as one of Japan's six old kilns – being said to have a history of 1260 years. In 1976 Shigaraki-yaki (Shigaraki ware) was designated as a traditional craft in Japan.

Hechimon is a collection of Japanese ceramics by a third-generation Shigaraki-yaki maker, Marui Seito.

About: Hechimon

Hechimon is a collection of Japanese ceramics by a third-generation Shigaraki-yaki maker, Marui Seito. This name translates as “strange things” or “unusual things”. The ceramic collection embraces varying expressions from the vessels themselves. Like holding their own personalities due to materials used, kiln firings, and the craftsman hand. All of these processes and relationships slightly shift each piece – no two pieces will be identical in nature.
