Product Description
This Bizen Ware Katakuchi bowl is a masterpiece of Japanese pottery craftsmanship. Made from wood-fired natural clay, it offers durability, strength, and a unique glazing technique. Its classic design, subtle lip, and timeless shape make it a beautiful addition to any table.
The exterior and interior of the ceramic has a smooth tactile finish due to it being wood fired and left unglazed – honouring the clays natural beauty.
Bizen ware or Bizen-yaki (備前焼) is a type of Japanese pottery traditionally from Bizen province, presently a part of Okayama prefecture. Bizen is characterized by significant hardness due to high temperature kiln firing. Common earthen-like, reddish-brown colours appear due to the absence of glaze and organic markings resulting from the wood firing process.
