Product Description
The creamy white lime glaze captures the feeling of the earth and artisans hands. Whilst this teapot is not suitable for open flames, it has excellent heat retention qualities. Each pot uses local clay and glaze from the Mie Prefecture and Iga regions. These clays are renowned for their high temperature resistance, which makes them ideal for kiln firing. After being collected, the clay is wedged and moulded by the craftsmen hands one by one.
To ensure optimal perforce, we recommend a simple sealing process before first use. Simmer rice water inside the pot for approximately 10 minutes. This provides a protective film over any fine cracks in the clays surface, preventing dirt and odours from adhering.
Occasionally, with lime glazes, tea tannins may create faint black patterns on the ceramics surface. While this adds character and beauty and is a natural process that can shift over time. Soaking the pot in cold or lukewarm water before use can mitigate this effect to some extent.
